Introduction to paving
Paving is obviously a very important element in the design of front gardens. We are not always aware of how much of our field of vision the ground surface takes up. Because of this, it is aesthetically very important, but it is also functionally crucial and has a big environmental impact.
There is a wide variety of paving types in many sizes and materials. Living pavements may be provided by grass with or without reinforcing inserts. A very important consideration for paving is its permeability i.e. its capacity to allow rain to penetrate into the earth below. Too much impervious paving is bad for the environment.
The following types of paving are available:
